Salvatore Joseph LoRusso, 76, passed away on Wednesday evening, October 24th, 2018. Born September 8, 1942, Sal grew up in the Bronx and loved to tell stories about his life there, including his time at Saints Peter & Paul. After leaving New York City in his 20’s, he enlisted in the US Army during the Vietnam era, and was stationed at several military bases throughout the US, including two of the most memorable for him, Monterey, CA and Buffalo, NY. As a career, Sal started in the hospitality industry and was tremendously successful, holding positions as General Manager, VP of Sales & Marketing, and various Regional Positions, spanning from Palm Springs and Monterey, CA, Las Vegas, NV and most recently the Poconos of Pennsylvania. It was through his tremendous success in the hospitality industry that allowed him to meet in person two of his life-long idols, Billy Martin and Frank Sinatra. One of his passions was to mentor people interested in pursuing hospitality as a career and pay forward to others the knowledge that he gained through his own experiences. In the final years of his life he was able to spend a lot of time out in beautiful Montauk, NY, one of his favorite places. Sal was the most giving person, with his time, finances, and knowledge to anyone who needed it. He imparted a tremendous amount of wisdom about life and shared it willingly with so many who needed hope. One of the Bible verses Sal held onto strongly during some of the most trying times of his life was Psalm 91. His faith and love were a true testament of God in his life and how he lived his life as an example to God every day.
